SwimCast

A desktop podcast app that loads a swim's worth of episodes onto waterproof headphones in one click.

A 19-second loop. Every lap, something worth hearing, over an empty pool lane at dawn. In SwimCast, an episode gets five stars (Rated), the app recommends what to hear next with a reason for each pick (Recommended), and an AI summary sums up an episode before it is added to the swim (Summed up). One click on Sync to device: the episodes are sped up, evened out and copied to the SWIM PRO headphones, and the app confirms Synced 5. A swimmer puts the headphones on and glides underwater while Ep. 112, Breathing on both sides, plays. Pool scenes are AI-generated; screens are recreated with dummy shows.
Rate, get a pick with a reason and a quick AI summary, then one click to the headphones. Screens recreated with dummy shows; pool scenes are AI-generated.

How it works

  1. 01

I pick episodes with “+ Swim”.

  2. 02

I plug in the headphones. It speeds the episodes up, evens out the volume and copies them over.

  3. 03

After the swim, I mark where I stopped.

Why I built it

Loading the headphones was the worst part of swimming with podcasts. I wanted it to take one click.

What I learned

  • With Claude as my co-author, I built and shipped a real desktop app.
  • Point the reviews at the risky part. The code that deletes files got the hardest look.
  • Small rules prevent big messes: the app remembers which files it put on the headphones, so it never touches mine.
SwimCast's After Swim review: three episodes marked Finished, Continue or Keep, each with a slider for where I stopped and a note box. Dummy shows.
After a swim: mark where you stopped. Recreated with dummy shows.
